Buying Diamonds Online

buy diamond online

With all of the potential for scams concerning diamonds, buying diamonds online almost seems unthinkable! However, you actually can purchase diamonds online, without any problems – as long as you are careful.

First, think about your reasons for wanting to purchase the diamond online, as opposed to making a purchase from a local jewelry store. The most common reason is price. Due to low overhead costs, online jewelers and wholesalers are able to offer lower prices. However, you must be careful – sometimes a price that is too low is a sure indication of a scam.

One of the best things about purchasing online is the unlimited selection. When shopping offline, you are limited to the selection in the stores in your general area. Online, there are no limits. But again, you must use a great deal of care and consideration before handing your money over to someone that you cannot see and have never met!

Before shopping, learn as much as you can about diamonds – especially cut, color, clarity and carat weights. When you are knowledgeable about diamonds, it will be harder for a con artist to rip you off. Once you know more about diamonds, you will be ready to start shopping.

Take your time. Don’t purchase the first diamond that you see that interests you. Instead, look for similar diamonds for sale. Do some comparison shopping to find the lowest prices. Once you have found the lowest price, start doing your investigation. You know about diamonds, you’ve found a diamond that you love, and you’ve found the lowest price – but you are still quite a ways away from actually purchasing that diamond!

Ask about the seller’s credentials, such as professional jewelry associations that they belong to. View and print the seller’s return, refund, and upgrade policies. Also inquire about additional services, such as settings and mountings, sizing, and free shipping. Do a search for customer reviews on this particular company around the Internet. Also check with the BBB Online to see if there have been any complaints.

Ask for a diamond grading report from an independent laboratory such as GIA, HRD, EGL or AGS. You should see this before making a purchase. Finally, use a reputable escrow service for high dollar diamonds – preferably one that will have the diamond appraised while it is in their possession. The seller sends the diamond to the escrow service, and you send the money to pay for the diamond to the escrow service. The escrow service has the diamond appraised, sends the diamond to you, and sends the money to the seller. This is the surest way to protect yourself…again, make sure that you use a reputable escrow service!

Handbags and Women - Choice or Biological Destiny?

Handbags have been one of the necessities of life for women ever since recorded history began. It was important to have the items that one used often close at hand and articles found in a purse have ranged from ornate sewing scissors (17th century) to todays mandatory cell phone and credit cards.

handbags and womenWhy is it that women carry their belongings around and men just have their wallets? My opinion is that the need to carry something to hold goods is a fundamental need rooted in the biology of females. Who is the main caregiver of the family from prehistory to the present? Yes, I know that traditional roles are gradually evolving but what person in the "traditional" family is the most responsible for taking care of everyone? In most cases, it is the woman who gets people organized and make sure everyone has whatever they need.

Biologically speaking, the female of our species takes care of her offspring and makes sure that all needs will be taken care of once the home is left. I believe that this has evolved into women carrying all that they need and what everyone else could possibly want in their handbag. To illustrate - when you go out with a male friend do you ask him for tissues, pen, or paper? No - you ask another female. Another nurturer is more likely to have some basic necessities than a male.

Am I saying that there is a basic "purse carrying" gene? No - what I am saying is that, biologically speaking, females are the caregivers of the world and have always had this role thrust upon them since the beginning of Homo sapiens. It is our destiny (both physically and psychologically) to make sure that the world is in order. We can't handle the entire planet but we do our best to organize our own particular sphere! Our "caregiving" instincts are attuned to others and, if we fight this destiny, there is a feeling of things not being "quite right" around us. So enjoy carrying your handbag and know that you are making the global community a better place for all!

Handbags: Never Have Enough

What is it about fashion that drive the ladies mad? It's certainly handbags and shoes- an awesome pairing that makes significant others jealous everywhere.

And no, it's never sufficient to have only one in your repertoire, but to have an entire years worth of handbags and fashion supplements so that you can match it with whatever you're wearing that day (or whatever mood you're in).

There is something very sensual and raw about handbags- they project femininity. It's probably the defining accessory for women because it goes beyond footwear, or other wearing apparel we put on our physical bodies- handbags are what make women standout from a purely fashion point of view.

Handbags are not only eye candy, indeed, they serve various different purposes as well. There are all purpose handbags that can carry your daily necessities such as cell phones, makeup, wallet, keys and anything else you'd like to have around with you.

There are particular handbags that people use to carry their canine fellows as well. Women hardly ever use one style of handbag. They usually have a rack full of different bags for different occasions.

There are all sorts of styles and fashions of handbags that will suit the taste of any discerning woman in the whole world. From well-known handbags such as Coach, to lesser known producers, there are wide product lines as diverse and unique as the stars in the sky.

If you think that's still not impressive, there is a constant evolution of handbags on a annual basis, whereby the hottest new designers come out with a refreshing approach while the veteran designers produce instant classics adored by all.

Some groups prefer the name brands exclusively, while others go for lower tier handbags and purses, while yet others may consider a mix or even opt for replicas. Replicas usually are inferior in quality and certainly a poor way to spend your money.

Tips to Buying A Diamond Engagement Ring

There is much to consider when purchasing a diamond – especially diamond engagement rings! The tradition of presenting a woman with a diamond engagement ring when proposing began in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian presented a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy – and in most cases, the woman you plan to propose to will expect a ring to accompany that proposal!

First, determine how much ring you can afford. Most people use the ‘two months salary’ rule. This means that the ring should cost the equivalent of two months of your current salary. Because you have other bills to pay, saving up this amount of money may take quite a bit of time. You should consider financing. Simply go to the jeweler of your choice and tell them that you plan to buy an engagement ring, and that financing will be necessary. Go ahead and get the credit check out of the way, find out what your payments will be, and how much of a down payment is required.

Now, have your mother, sister, or your girlfriend's best friend to take your girlfriend for shopping, and make sure that they gaze at the engagement rings to get an idea of what she might like. Make sure that the jewelry store you buy the ring from will allow you to return the ring, if that is required, or allow your girlfriend to exchange it for another if she isn’t happy with it!

How To Nurture Your Designer Handbag

Whether your designer handbag is a Louis Vuitton, a Gucci, or any other designer, it is important to take proper care of it. Proper care will give you many years of beauty and use in return.

Most leather designer bags are not treated. This allows the bags to age gracefully and with the character expected from a designer bag, making them distinct and unique.

Keep your bag away from makeup, food, or any other oil based product which can stain. When you are not using your bag, store it in a protective cloth container.

The very first thing you should do is treat your handbag with a leather protector to prevent stains from setting in. No matter how careful you are, at some point you are likely to leave a mark on it and the leather protection will not allow it to soak in so you'll be able to more easily remove it.

What to do if you get a stain. Here's some helpful tips worth trying.

Cleaning leather can be a bit difficult. Leather is rugged and it lasts a long time but it does stain quite easily. Depending on the type of leather and the finish, will determine the cleaning method used.

If a handbag is tanned, and pigmented you can try to wipe the stain with a soft damp cloth. If this doesn't work, try a leather cleaner specifically made for the type of leather you have. Follow the directions carefully.

Once the spot has been removed it is a good idea to re-condition the leather to restore the natural luster. Always test a leather product in inconspicuous spot before applying to your entire handbag.

If the leather has become discolored there are leather products on the market that can help restore color. Try to match the product as close as possible to the natural color of your handbag.

Who Is the Star? Handbag Or The Celebrity?

Every year, we witness the changing trends in handbags being carried out on the red carpet by our favorite celebrities. A woman's outfit is never complete without the perfect handbag, and the starlets of the big screen are never complete without their trendy designer purses. Who are your favorite stars, and what designer bags are they carrying with them wherever they go?

Everyone's favorite teeny bopper, Hillary Duff, has really taken to the designs of Lauren Scherr. Whether on stage or on set, Hillary is absolutely in love with these funky bags. These handbags are a lot of fun, and the extravagant materials used in their design evidence this. Our personal favorite is the Cosette black satin bucket shaped purse, which is covered in layers of pink and black ostrich feathers with sequin banding along the top. You go girl!

Paris Hilton, of television and Internet fame, has been seen around Los Angeles carrying bags from Surly Girl Studios. These bags have become very popular with her legions of fans, and we can see why. These bags have a very simple and classic design, with a hint of understated sensuality a la Jackie-O. Our current fave from Surly Girl features one of this years big trends; metallic materials. These bags truly shine! From their Red Carpet Collection, this bag features a gold metallic lambskin exterior, large Austrian crystals and high-end nickel hardware. Divas watch out!

Terry Hatcher, everyone's favorite desperate housewife, has been seen everywhere this year. With the success of her smash hit television program, it comes as no surprise. She has been seen around New York sporting bags from Lorelei. These purses are both simple and extravagant; simple designs with extravagant patterns. We absolutely love the "Lindsay" model in Cobalt and Gold. Everything you need to take out with you for an evening will fit snugly into this wonderful envelope clutch. Oh yes! They're real and they're spectacular!

Whatever your tastes are, there is certainly a perfect handbag out there for you. Look to the stars, and the answers will come to you!

A Few Things to Consider Before Shopping

So you really like handbags. Okay, maybe you love them. That much is clear.

But now what? Picking a handbag isn't rocket science, but there are some things to think about when shopping. Some are questions of what you want in a bag, while other considerations are much more practical. Thinking through these can make a difference between being happy with your purchase or leaving your new bag sitting in your closet collecting dust.

Style
You're browsing, and you spot a bag that you're absolutely in love with. Sitting on the rack (or calling to you from your computer screen), it's the cutest thing you've ever seen!

But unless you're going to hang it on the wall of your apartment for your guests to admire, you'll want to ask yourself this question:

What is this bag going to look like on me? Remember that a bag is only one piece of the puzzle - it should ideally match an outfit or your wardrobe (not just color, but also style and attitude). So before buying, mentally cruise your closet and try to think of what you would wear while carrying that bag.

Image is everything!!! When considering handbags/outfits, look at the image you are trying to project. Whether you're going for cute, sexy, cool, chic, conservative, etc. Think of how the bag will help you pull off the image. Remember, everyone is unique and some styles don't work for everyone. Also, not all styles work for every occasion. Generally you will shop with specific kinds of activities or events in mind - and of course a formal night out is not going to be the same as a day of running errands. You might eventually want to develop a rotating repertoire of different styles for different occasions.

Finally, consider your body shape and size. Handbags come in many different shapes and colors along with style, so make sure to pick one that is flattering for you.

Carrying Capacity
All right, so you've found a handbag that looks great on you. But it is a bag, after all, and you just might also want to put stuff in it.

How much will you be able to fit in your potential bag? Also, what are you going to put in it? Along with the overall size of the bag, give some thought to things like compartments and accessibility.

Comfort
Another question: how easy will it be to carry? How big is the bag, and what kind of handle does it have? Depending on where you're going and whether you have a place to put your bag, you might end up holding it for a while.

You're going to look great with your new handbag. You might as well be comfortable too!

Price
From the infrequent buyer to the shopaholic, we all eventually ask ourselves: How much should I spend? What is this bag worth to me? "Worth" is not just a matter of a dollar value, but also of what it does for you when you have it. Will you be happy that you spent the money and bought it? Is it worth giving up lunch for a week to own that cute bag? Is it worth giving up the extra week's lunch for the matching shoes you now need? Whether you spend thousands of dollars on a Hermes Kelly Bag or $8 on a tote bag from Target, if it was worth it to you, then as Bob Barker says… the price is right.

In the end…
Shopping for a bag should be fun. That's what it's all about, isn't it? But if you take a little extra time to consider whether the style, carry capacity, comfort level, and price all suit you - you can end up being that much happier with your choice.

And hey… Informed shopping can be that much more enjoyable anyway!

Power of Female - Handbags

Have you ever thought of a handbag as a symbol of female power and authority? Of course everyone is different so a purse for one person may mean something totally different and unique for another but let's look at handbags from a different perspective.

The press of England has spent time and effort speculating and commenting on ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's handbag. To quote "The Times" in June, 1982 written by Julian Critchley, "She...tends to believe the worst of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She cannot see an institution without hitting it with her handbag..."

It's obvious that the press equates Margaret Thatcher's handbag with her assertion of power and the ability to impose her will. If you look closely, you will notice that her handbags closely resemble the Queen Mother's handbags. Is it because both of these powerful women choose the same type of bag or is Ex-Prime Minister Thatcher deliberately mimicking this female symbol of ultimate authority in her country?

Negotiations are underway for the famous handbag to be placed in a museum that houses Winston Churchill's papers and historical documents from the War. There is no indication that Mr. Churchill's wallet is stored in this prestigious collection but, then again, Margaret Thatcher was the first woman to impose her powerful presence (and pocketbook!) on 10 Downing Street!

Designer Handbags – Can’t Live Without It?

You love designer handbags. You collect them, lust after them and treat them better than your nearest and dearest until your husband or boyfriend starts complaining. Does this sound familiar to you?

Your credit cards twitch and flinch when the latest fashion magazines arrive in the post, small whimpering sounds carrying to you gently from your purse.

You convince yourself that you can give them up anytime, no problem.

"It's not a problem", you tell your friends "I can control it".

Then you catch yourself signing your husband up for an evening job without his knowledge, visions of the latest Hyanuki creation shimmering in front of your eyes as you fill out his application form.

Are you an addict? Is your habit becoming dangerous? Will it all ends in tears?

Well, if any of the following symptoms are familiar to you -- maybe you should consider cutting down for a while to a lesser brand!

1) You hear the phrases "huffing", "shluffing" and "blopping" and know what they mean. Even worse, you can remember the last time you did any of them.

2) The UPS / FEDEX delivery men know you by your first name and say "Hi" to you in the street.

3) Your husband is convinced you're having an affair with the delivery guy as he's always at your house!

4) The "box" room has been renamed your "dressing room" and you're trying to work out which wall to knock down to make it bigger so that you can fit in the new closets you'll need for all your bags.

5) Your husband is telling you how badly damaged the cards are and how you'll both have to economize. All you hear is "Of course you can get another handbag darling. You go choose what you want and I'll arrange to sell a kidney!"

6) You have to find new places to hide your latest purchases so that you don't have to answer any difficult questions.

7) When you get asked about a new bag you lie through your teeth, claiming you've had it for years and have only just got it out of the cupboard.

8) You start arguments on purpose with your husband / boyfriend / whatever just so as to have an excuse to buy yourself a new handbag - to cheer yourself up as you felt so low!

9) You know exactly how much, as a percentage, your weekly grocery bill is as money you can't spend on a new handbag.

10) If anyone asks what you'd like as a birthday or xmas pressie, you're able to hand out a list of your desired bags that you'd like to be "surprised" with. The list is categorized by 17 different headings and is cross-indexed.

11) The manager of your local boutique phones you to advise that they are holding a training session for new staff and can they please borrow some of your bags for the session.

12) They then phone back again and ask if you'd be prepared to give the training session instead.

13) Fashion magazines phone you to ask what you think the newest trend or design will be for the new season.

14) Your collection is so big - you have to use a card index to find the bag you need right now!

15) You walk past a field of cows and spend the next thirty minutes working out in your head how many bags and trim the herd would be good for.

If any of these strike you just a little too close for comfort -- maybe you should consider cutting down a bit?

Just don't try going cold turkey -- it hurts like hell!

Handbag Materials – What, Which, Why?

To a certain degree, what handbag material is the best depends very much on what you want the handbag to do.

Do you want it to compliment an outfit? Do you want it to liven things up a little bit (or a lot) or do you just want it to be durable and long lasting or both.

There are many types of material used for building designer handbags. The most common material for designer handbags these days is leather.

Strong, highly durable and incredibly tough, leather is a perfect choice for a material.

Bearing in mind that leather also comes in a variety of different types such as cowhide, goatskin, natural, man made etc, there will always be one out there that "feels" right in your hands.

Strong and thick leather will weather well, able to shrug off raindrops and small marks and spills (dependent on the protective coatings and coloring) and will not rip or shred after repeated putting down and picking up off rough floors.

Suede also runs a close second to the leather lines, having many of the same strength and durability properties of leather. Less designer handbags are made from suede as it is a harder material to design a color or style for - although Coach specifically do a great range of colors and styles in suede handbags!

But what if you want to glam up an outfit or go for something beyond the traditional materials of leather, suede, canvas and nylon mix?

Well -- you're still spoilt for choice.

How about a seat belt bag, made from recycled seat belts in a criss-cross pattern? Strong, colorful and very different.

Or the new License Plate handbags -- made from cleaned and recycled licence plates, handbags that are literally bent into shape with hinged flaps.

Then there are evening bags, made from velvet.

Ugg handbags - made from treated sheepskin -- some of which also double up as a handbag and muff!

Beijo handbags are made purely from polyvinyl -- tough and incredibly easy to wipe clean.

Some of the Louis Vuitton high-end bags are made from a mix of cowhide leather or canvas with ostrich leather for trim and decoration!

You can even still pick up some handbags made from crocodile skin -- albeit from the pre owned market!

The choice of materials is quite mind-boggling. Just about anything you can think of as a suitable material to use for making a handbag has already been done.

The only real question is -- What do you want your handbag to say about you?

If you're solid, traditional and dependable -- go for leather.

If you're funky and chic -- try the seat belt bag.

If you're different and a bit of a trend setter, not a trend follower, either go with the Licence Plate handbags or design and make your own.

Handbag: Does Size Matter ?

I have small children but to my blessing, I have past the diaper bag stage. However, I still tend to carry a medium to larger size bag when the kids are around because I always get the 'here mom, carry this' where ever we go. Drives you crazy doesn't it!!

On the other hand, I'm tired of the big thing so I like the smaller size bags to feel feminine once again. They are so handy especially on those ladies night out or those rare dates with my husband. Did I say rare! We, ladies like to look good and not be overpowered by our purse. Ladies need to carry the basics at all times and that little purse fits the need. We live such hectic lifestyles and are always on the move. We don't want anything big and clunky in the way to slow us down any more than we need to be. If you are carrying a briefcase, portfolios, or your laptop, as well or other business items, you definitely don't want to carry another large item.

Now, there are those super small evening bags that I just haven't figured it out why anyone bothers. You can maybe fit your lipstick in them if you are lucky. I guess it is all in the look. I am the practical type so I don't get it! There are plenty of reasonably sized evening bags that look great. Now ladies, I must say that too many of you buy the little handbags when you should not. I've seen them so crammed with stuff that they look distorted. Break down and buy a larger bag. It will look much neater and we will see the great handbag you're carrying and not a mess.

Gone are the days of the moms carrying the huge bag with everything in it including the kitchen sink. You know, the one's carrying the first aid kit, sewing kit, scissors etc. just as my mom does. Oh, and they need lots of pockets for all that stuff that make them having hard time finding the keys because they don't know which pocket it is in. My mom's a seasoned grandmother and I guess she feels she still needs to carry everything. 'Just in case!' There are plenty of our mothers / grandmothers out there that you know exactly what I'm talking about. I have women buy the cute nice size handbag and then the huge one for their mom. Do you fall into this huge bag syndrome?

Speaking of moms, let us not forget the dedicated new moms of the world. I honor all of you because I've been there done that. These are the women who give up their handbags altogether for the diaper bag. You carry so much around for the kids that you just stuff your wallet in the diaper bag. There's no time for yourself so the lipstick is definitely dropped from the contents of what you carry. Occasionally you try to take back your womanly status and carry a purse but realize fast what a hassle. Diaper bags have changed so much over the years. There are so many fantastic looking diaper bags that really don't look like a diaper bag. They are useful, because that's important, but great looking too.

Now, lets take a look at the younger set. Teenagers and young adults have a mind of their own and a definite taste of their own. They are coming into themselves of who they are and what they want from life. It has better to be a very in and stylish handbag. Don't ever try to buy a handbag for them unless they have seen it and asked for it. Guaranteed you'll be returning it after you've given it to them. They definitely like the smaller cute stylish ones. Not too fancy but very in. No large bag, which might make them feel old or like a mom. The college set will carry the larger bag only for books in school. They appeal to the feminine side instead of the backpacks.

I ask you, where do you fall in the world of handbag size? Are you like, and most ladies out there, got to have them all. I guess you can call it the handbag fetish!!

The Lord of the Bags

Handbag styles are now very diversified and they fall in and out of trend quite frequently. Though handbag is not one of the key components of your outfit, it still affects your overall outlook as much as a pair of shoes, jeans or blouse. Choosing the suitable and appropriate handbag goes beyond just the matching colors. There are quite a few things to consider, such as shape, size and length of the handbag. Here I will explain on how these factors will influence the impact a handbag has on you.

Shape
Handbag is something different from clothing, where it stands out from your body figure. This makes the shape of a handbag important that can have such a powerful visual impact. Try to get one that is exact opposite of what your body type is. This is to complement your body type. If you are short, get a handbag that is taller to enhance your vertical look. A vertical handbag not only makes you look taller but it also helps you look slimmer, since it directs the viewer’s eyes on the vertical rather than on the horizontal. On the other hand, if you are tall and thin, you might want to get a rounder handbag.

Size
The other factor to consider when shopping for a handbag is the size of the handbag. If you are small and thin, try not to carry huge bags that will look disproportionate to your body. On the other hand, if you have a few extra pounds, you might not want to stress that with a bag that is barely visible and seems more like a toy rather than a real handbag.

Length
The length of the handles is also important, medium sized handles work best in all cases. In general, long handles and a vertically oriented handbag make you look slimmer.

Handbag Types
There are several handbag types that you can choose from.

Red Hobo Bag
Hobo bags are popular shoulder bags that offer a nice round shape and a lot of interior room.

Satchel Style Bag
Satchels are large handled bags that offer a lot of room but are less elegant.

Clutch
Clutch bag, which is very small and fancy, mostly used for evening wear and other special occasions.

Duffle Bag
Duffle bag takes us back to the larger sized category, while the field bag is sportier and is a flap top shoulder bag.

Hermes style bag
Hermes style bags are structured in shape and they have select closures that are intentionally visible.

Tote
Tote handbags are highly popular. They have handles or straps, depending on the model, and are open top bags.

Messenger style bag
Messenger style bags are mostly shoulder bags and are usually worn across the body.

There is one final element to consider when shops for handbags: Will this handbag suit your lifestyle? Do not get an elegant and fragile bag if you are used to carry a lot of stuff in your bag, and if you are going through subway traffic everyday. Make the choice that will complement your lifestyle in the best way and make the most out of enjoying your shopping experience.

What You Should Know About Handbags

Quality and durability

There are many factors determine the durability of handbags. Perhaps the versatility of the handbag is the deciding factor in its durability. The majority of fashionable and versatile handbags are designed and created in leather. There are many types of leather, each with its own characteristics. The most common leathers used to make handbags are ostrich, rawhide, lamb, deer, moose, alligator, and swine just to name a few good examples. The process, in which the leather is processed, treated, cured, and eventually shaped is extremely important to the lifespan of the handbag. Obviously, many of the handbag designers are going to use a higher quality of leather depending on the potential price tag to the consumer.

Design
Besides the durability, the actual design of the handbag is essential to the life of the handbag as well. The compartments of a handbag are a vitally important feature to any handbag. However, some people like many compartments, some like only a few; some like big compartments, some like small. Handbag designers try to keep the variety of their potential consumers in mind. One thing is certain about the design of the handbag: all handbags are potentially unique. All handbags offer the individual user a sense of uniqueness and style. Handbags are invaluable accessories to anyone's wardrobe. Your wardrobe is incomplete without handbags.

Price
Price is an important consideration to many people when purchasing a handbag. Finding a reasonable and acceptable price is often daunting and something straight out of a spy movie. Finding a Mulberry handbag for $29 on the street corner may seem exceptionally wonderful. However, you must ask yourself: do you honestly believe that a Mulberry handbag for $29 is an authentic Mulberry handbag? Many people sell imitation handbags - often referred to as "knock-offs". If a handbag looks like a name brand handbag, has the name brand tag, and is a steal... proceed with extreme caution. Owning a knock-off brand is illegal in most countries. Now keep in mind that many people purchase replica handbags. These handbags do not claim to be the original brand at all, but closely replicated facsimiles. Of course, the replica handbags are not going to be the same quality of the name brand. Remember: you get what you pay for.

Conclusion
Deciding to purchase a handbag is filled with options, options, and more options. Do not feel overwhelmed. Be aware of what you want before you begin. Know the price range you are looking for. Know the options you just cannot live without. Then buy exactly what you want and need. A good handbag will offer the owner many important factors: versatility, reliability, functionality, and all of this while remaining stylish, trendy, and affordable.
